Megard, Rouen, 1863. Frontispiece & plates. 8vo (9 1/4 x 6 inches), 264-pages. Original burgundy grained cloth blocked in gilt and colours, all edges gilt.. Foxing to tissue guards, binding a little mottled. Prize inscription on verso of front free endpaper. "Bibliotheque Morale de La Jeunesse"

The wrapper soiled, creased and torn with old repairs of paper tape, a number of leaves with old re-margining, some old repairs with paper tape. Re-spined with grained skiver in 1891 when this, together with 20 other children's books of c. 1840's were bound together in one volume. Anon. Only two copies cited on Copac.

London: Dean & Co. n.d. c. 1840. 7 hand-coloured plates with facing text. 8vo (8 1/8 x 6 1/2 inches), original pictorial yellow wrappers; lower & upper wrappers worn & soiled and with tears with old repairs of applied paper, the tears affecting the coloured plates to the reverse of each wrapper. Some margins strengthened. Re-spined with grained skiver in 1891 when this, together with 20 other children's books of c. 1840's were bound together in one volume. Not a very good copy but very rare; only 1 copy cited by Copac (V & A Museum). Anon.

H. G. Bohn, London, 1852. First British edition. 8vo (7 1/8 x 4 1/2 inches), xii:483. Contemporary half green grained calf over green cloth sides, all edges marbled. Bound with the half-title. A very attractive copy in excellent condition and very clean internally.. This unillustrated edition preceded the illustrated. Old signature and date on front free endpaper and the half-title.

Collins, London, 1961 1st reprint. Coloured plates throughout. 4to (11 1/4 x 9 inches), unpaginated. Original cloth-backed coloured pictorial boards in worn jacket which has sellotape repairs, although it has done a marvellous job at protecting the binding which is very clean & bright.
