No date, except for "October, 1896" dated on dedication page. Endpaper were made of fragile page, with front blank missing and rear free endpaper chipped at corners. Rest of book made with a better quality paper. Textblock a bit shaken, but holding. Cover worn. Collects six ghostly tales.

New York: Stokes, 1933. First edition. . Hardcover. Very Good/Good. Near fine book, in good dust jacket, with various small nicks and shallow loss to spine head.

Scarce as such, as the gift bindings were more expensive than the more common brown cloth bindings. Title pages both state "Tenth Thousand," which was the second printing according to BAL. Copyright pages state printed by Geo. C. Rand. A solid set expertly repaired at the spines and hinges. All edges gilt.

A historic set, increasingly difficult to find in first issue.
