Paducah, KY: Turner Publishing Company, 1995. First Edition. Hardcover. Folio. 112 pages. Very Good. Black and White Photographs. History of the battleship U. S. S. California and her crew, with focus on operations in World War II. The California was sunk during the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor but was salvaged and repaired by 1944. This history is well illustrated with historic photographs and contains many recollections by former crewmen. Also includes numerous veteran's biographies with "then and now" photographs. Fore corners slightly bumped.

[Lakehurst?]: Clements, 1925. Framed. Approximately 10 3/4" x 37 3/4", sight 6 5/8" x 31 1/4. Near fine. Not examined out of frame.. Silver gelatin photograph. Uncommon original silver gelatin panoramic photograph of the Ohio crash of the U. S. Navy's first rigid airship, the USS Shenandoah. The Shenandoah encountered a severe storm over Ohio on the morning of September 3, 1925, the violent updraft of which quickly carried the ship to an altitude that ruptured her gas bags and resulted in turbulence that broke the ship into three pieces. <br /> <br /> This photograph shows the aft section of the ship, in which 18 crewmen survived the crash. A lovely copy of one of the most influential books on 19th century America. Mrs. Stowe's book and its widespread readership in the North solidified abolition sentiment and hastened the oncoming Civil War. <br /> <br /> This first edition has a scarce prospectus of the writings of Harriet Beecher Stowe laid in, which she has inscribed and signed "From Harriet Beecher Stowe." The prospectus is in the original mailing envelope addressed in Mrs. Stowe's hand and postmarked Hartford, Conn. <br /> <br /> Also laid in is an early 20th century description of this item by bookseller Harry F.
