Photographer's copyright stamp and credit sticker on verso, with typewritten title: "Ser. Corleone: La miseriaha cacciato la mafia" (Poverty has chased the mafia away) and pencilled negative number; and "Corleone" handwritten in pen. From Scafidi's series dedicated to poverty and the mafia in the hinterland of Palermo. Nicola Scafidi was born in Palermo in 1925 and began practicing photography very young, having learned the technique from his father. 1850. Etching on Chine collé mounted to cream wove paper, 3 7/8 x 5 7/8 inches (97 x 147 mm), full margins. With a pencil notation in the right margin on the recto (outside of image area), as well as some adhesive residue at the top right and left corners (also outside of the image area). On the verso are two small patches of very light and unobtrusive yellowing, neither of which present on the recto. An impression of this charming image can be found in ther permament collection of the British Museum (Museum No. 1866,0210.168).

Darchery, St. James Street March 11, 1783), scattered light foxing, corner loss, top left corner, well outside of image area. "SMP" collector's stamp in red ink on the verso (not in Lugt), and the name "Renier" and the initials "AR" in black ink on the verso. Colors are extremely fresh. Hand-made Florentine Album with 150 pp of hand-made laid paper, most pages with calligraphy in black ink with some pencil and ink drawings and decorations throughout. Limp vellum binding with yapp edges, elaborate TM monogram to upper cover; woodblock end paper with green motif; limp leather ties, one snapped and reattached. This lovely hand-bound album contains a collection of hand-written poems and quotes, ranging from Browing to Shelley, with many religious considerations and transcriptions, collected by someone close to Dorothy Colles, possibly her mother or aunt.
