Paris, 1930. 100. Etching and drypoint on cream laid Van Gelder Zonen watermarked paper, 8 7/8 x 6 1/2 inches (220 x 164 mm), full margins. Signed, titled, and inscribed "ed. 100" in pencil, lower margin. In very good condition with minor age tone and scattered light, minor surface soiling.

1971. Very Good +. Vintage gelatin silver print. Image dimensions 7 1/4 x 9 3/8 in. (180 x 238 mm), printed to edge. Photographer's copyright stamp and credit sticker on verso, with typewritten title: "Ser. Corleone: La miseriaha cacciato la mafia" (Poverty has chased the mafia away) and pencilled negative number; and "Corleone" handwritten in pen. From Scafidi's series dedicated to poverty and the mafia in the hinterland of Palermo. Nicola Scafidi was born in Palermo in 1925 and began practicing photography very young, having learned the technique from his father. In 1943 he was there to document when the Allies landed in Sicily and he dedicated his life to photojournalism, capturing the contradictions, ugliness and hope of his native Sicily. He portrayed all aspects of life, from the mundane and familiar to the religious, from the destruction of earthquakes to the brutality of the mafia. Paris: Delâatre, 1846. Etching on chine collé mounted to white wove paper, 3 x 4 5/8 inches (75 x 112 mm), full margins. Scattered light areas of adhesive residue with associated discoloration along the top sheet edge on the verso, with some minor visibility on the recto, well outside of the image area. Light mat tone. Otherwise in very good condition. Printed by Delâtre, Paris. [Guiffrey 110].

1850. Etching on Chine collé mounted to cream wove paper, 3 7/8 x 5 7/8 inches (97 x 147 mm), full margins. With a pencil notation in the right margin on the recto (outside of image area), as well as some adhesive residue at the top right and left corners (also outside of the image area). On the verso are two small patches of very light and unobtrusive yellowing, neither of which present on the recto. An impression of this charming image can be found in ther permament collection of the British Museum (Museum No. 1866,0210.168).

Paris, 1884. XL1. Copper plate etching with drypoint on cream laid paper with a partial heraldic watermark, 11 x 8 inches (280 x 204 mm), full margins. Toning and some discoloration along the left margin, well outside of the image area. There is a pencil inscription in English on the verso, and toning along the top sheet edge, both outside of the image area.

London: Elizabeth Darchery, 1783. Etching and engraving with hand coloring in watercolor on cream laid paper. 6 3/4 X 9 5/8 inches (170 x 244 mm), margins trimmed, image intact. Rubbing in the lower left image area obscuring the publishing information (which reads Published by Mm. Darchery, St. James Street March 11, 1783), scattered light foxing, corner loss, top left corner, well outside of image area. "SMP" collector's stamp in red ink on the verso (not in Lugt), and the name "Renier" and the initials "AR" in black ink on the verso. Colors are extremely fresh. Impressions of this work may be found in the permanent collection of the British Museum, and the Yale Center for British Art. Ex-Collection of Anne & Ferdinand Gabriel (F.G.) Crown 8vo, 7 3/8 x 5 inches (188 x 126 mm); [4] 256 pp.; original red cloth, stamped in gilt on spine and covers, a little rubbed and soiled, spine slightly faded, hinges weak; dark brown endpapers; foxing on first 2 and last 2 sheets. First edition, first issue with "Author of The Confessions of Byron Cashel's Profession etc. etc." to title and no appendix. Ink inscription of Mrs Walter Crane on half title. [Broad, p. 87; Magill p. 965]. This is Shaw's first published novel. It had been serialized in "To-Day, A Monthly Magazine of Scientific Socialism" between March and December of 1884. This printing was promptly canceled, and supposedly only samples for booksellers and travelers had been sent out with this title-page. Hand-made Florentine Album with 150 pp of hand-made laid paper, most pages with calligraphy in black ink with some pencil and ink drawings and decorations throughout. Limp vellum binding with yapp edges, elaborate TM monogram to upper cover; woodblock end paper with green motif; limp leather ties, one snapped and reattached. This lovely hand-bound album contains a collection of hand-written poems and quotes, ranging from Browing to Shelley, with many religious considerations and transcriptions, collected by someone close to Dorothy Colles, possibly her mother or aunt. It is related, in its binding and style, to the Florentine album described in our inventory as no. 431. Dorothy Margaret Tyas Colles (1917-2003), was an artist in oil, pastel and pencil, notable for portraits, mainly of children.
