Photo end pages, only handwriting in book is a small circled red "2" which is on the top edge of the front free end page. No other handwriting noted. No bookplates, not ex-lib, no torn or loose pages, hinges are good with no cracks.

New York: Random House, 1949. 1st Edition 1st Printing. Hardcover. Good+/Fair. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover with dust jacket. Signed and inscribed by the author Irving Howe on the front end page. DJ is quite tattered with a lot of chipping and tearing along the edges, scuffing and scrapes are also present. The original price of $3.00 is still present on the front flap. Gray cloth boards underneath show minor spotting and toning along with edge and corner bumps/wear. The internal binding is good and text pages are tight. No other handwriting found other than the author's inscription, no bookplates, no library markings etc. Pages are toned due to age and there is spotting and foxing present, but this is mainly limited to the end pages and pastedowns. Exterior page edges also show some spotting. Copyright page states first printing.

Chicago, IL: Childrens Press, Inc., 1946. 1st Edition . Soft cover. Good. Folio - over 12 - 15" tall. Phoebe Erickson. See photos for condition details. Tall softcover, measuring 12.5 inches in height. Cover and pages are all toned and there is foxing and spotting present. There is a name and a check mark on the bottom of the front cover and similar size check marks are on half of the pages with some pages having two. No other handwriting found in the book, nothing torn or loose. Edges and corners also light bumps/wear.

New York: Alfred A. Knopf, 1923. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Good. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, blue cloth boards with red label on spine. The exterior cloth shows spotting to edges and spine, mainly loss to the finish. Edges and corners show bumps/wear. The internal binding is good and text pages are tight. It appears the book was never fully red as the majority the pages are still uncut. There are one or two quadrants in the front, around the dedication page but the majority of them start at about page 121. No signatures or bookplates, no library markings, no handwriting found. There is some light foxing and spotting present, though this is mainly limited to the end pages and pastedowns.

Rostock: Ludolph Hirsch, 1850. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Good+. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, original 1850 publication in original binding of marbled paper covered boards with cloth to spine. Exterior shows scuffing, chipping, and soiling with edges and corners quite worn. The internal binding is good, no hinge issues other than some minor pulling. Pages are lightly toned due to age and there is foxing present, though most pages are minimal. The title page is darker than the rest of the text pages and has more foxing, as are end pages and pastedowns. The only handwriting found in the book is on the front end page where there is a very small signature written in the upper corner. No other handwriting, no bookplates, no library markings. Scarce to find from the original publisher as most known copies were published in the same year by the British Library as a softcover.

Mexico: La Impressora, 1930. Soft cover. Good. 4to - over 9¾ - 12" tall. See photos for condition details. Tall softcover education workbook, written in Spanish. The exterior shows scuffing and spotting, mainly on the front, and the hinge (located on top) shows chipping to the marbled cloth. Front cover also shows faint residue from where a price was once penciled in the upper right corner next to "Primera Parte". The internal binding is good and text pages are secure. It does not appear that this book was used as none of the worksheet pages have been written on. The first page inside the cover does contain a bookplate which has been pasted in the upper right corner. The book contains 100 single-sided pages.

New York: Published By The Author, 1919. Hardcover. Good-. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. Hardcover, no dust jacket. Copyright page states 1917 but bottom of title page has a hand affixed label which states " Published By The Author" with the date of 1919. On the page following is an inscription as signature of the author dated July 1919. Red cloth boards with gilt on front and spine boards show different shades of red and spotting. Top center of front board also has indentation. Pages are fox throughout with the end pages been the worst. Top of pages show dampstaining which carries in about half way through the book, though most pages just have a very slight ripple to them. No bookplates or handwriting noted other than the author's inscription. Condition graded as good minus. See photos.

New York: Henry Holt and Company, 1915. 1st Edition . Hardcover. VG-. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Hardcover, no dust jacket. Blue cloth boards with pictorial design on front cover, white text and art on spine. Front board has some de-laminating of the shine. Gift inscription on front end page, no other handwriting noted. Minor foxing present, mainly on the title page and frontispiece. First edition thus with single publication date of August 1915 listed on the copyright page. Book condition graded as VG minus. New York: A. R. Hart & Co., 1886. Hardcover. Good. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, blue cloth boards show scuffing and spotting along with edge and corner bumps/wear, some fraying is also present. The text portion of the internal binding is tight but there is an issue with the front hinge: it is not cracked but there is damage in the gutter about an inch and 1/2 up from the bottom which is actually caused a closed hole. The rear hinge is good as is the rest of the book. The second front end page shows an 1888 gift inscription written in pencil. This is the only handwriting found in the book. The only other found issue is on the last couple pages, where there is a small brown spot along the exterior page edge, just up from the lower outside corners.

New York: General Protestant Episcopal Sunday School Union and Church Book Society, 1859. First US Edition . Hardcover. VG-. 16mo - over 5¾ - 6¾" tall. Hardcover, no dust jacket as issued. Blind stamped red cloth boards with gilt on front and spine. Presumed first US edition as the earliest known copy was published by the General Protestant Episcopal Sunday School Union and Church Book Society, of which this copy states. No date given but WorldCat states this edition was published in 1859, with an early edition being published two years prior in London (first UK edition would be 1857). Red cloth boards show dark spots, presumably from the binding glue coming through. Yellow colored end pages are free and clear of any bookplates or handwriting, as is the rest of the book. Binding is still tight. Pages are toned with various degrees of foxing noted throughout. Despite the stains on the exterior this book still grades as VG minus. See photos.

The title on the front board lists the title as "Uncle Josh Weathersby's Punkin Centre Stories". Exterior shows light scuffing and bumps with only minor toning. Edges and corners mildly bumped/worn. Internal binding is good, no hinge issues. No signatures or bookplates, no library markings, no handwriting, nothing torn or loose. Pages are toned due to age but are clean.

Green cloth boards black design on front, text on spine. Exterior is clean with only minor corner and edge bumping. Front pastedown has fancy bookplate from John Watson Morrell and front end page shows his signature. No hinge issues noted. Interior pages are toned with scattered foxing and spotting. On the second page and that shows the author's other books someone has erased out all the prices. The title page states 1902, which is typically the actual year of print, but the copyright page states 1910.

Hardcover, original publication in dark green cloth with black text on front and spine. Exterior shows only minor handling wear and spotting along with edge and corner bumps. As a very light scuff on the front board near the bottom right which goes to the right edge of the front board the internal binding is good, no hinge issues and text pages are tight. No signatures or bookplates, no library markings, no handwriting found.

Hardcover, illustrated paper covered boards with red cloth to spine. Exterior shows scuffing and soiling along with edge and corner bumps/wear. Paper is chipped in several locations, with the worst being the lower right corner of the front board. The internal binding is good, no hinge issues. The front end page shows the original owner's name and address lightly written in pencil, which could easily be erased if desired. Pages are mildly toned due to age but there is foxing and spotting present, along with smudge marks. The rear pastedown has a small rough spot in the upper left corner, like where something was erased and it took off the finish of the paper.

Boston: John P. Jewett & Company, 1852. 1st Edition Twentieth Thousand. Hardcover. Poor. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, dark brown stamped boards with gilt design on front. The book is in very poor condition but appears complete. Rear board is detached and front board is precariously hanging on by a single tiny thread with several of the pages attached (this should basically be considered being detached as well). Spine has heavy chipping to the entire left side and edges/corners show bumps and wear. The internal binding is roughly in the same condition. Pages are toned due to age and there is spotting and foxing present throughout. There are dampstains present, located on the lower outside section of the pages starting at about page 60. DJ is in very poor shape with large tears, chips, and a missing front flap. The jacket was placed in a protective sleeve after the majority of the photos were taken (see last photo for what it looks like inside the sleeve). Red cloth boards underneath show edge and corner bumps along with a few stains. Internal binding is good, no hinge issues. No signatures or bookplates, no library markings, no handwriting, nothing torn or loose. There is some spotting and scattered smudge marks present, though nothing severe. The first photo shows the same book with and without the protective jacket sleeve.

Spine shows sunning the front is still attractive. No signatures or bookplates. Front end page has evidence of where a price was penciled in the corner and then erased. Spine is cracked between the half title and frontispiece page as well as rear board. Rest of binding is good. Top edge dust darkened.

Dust jackets are in excellent condition with only minor edge and corner bumps/small tears along with very light toning. Black cloth boards underneath have some minor spotting but are otherwise crisp. Internal binding is good and text pages are tight, no hinge issues, no signatures or bookplates, no library markings. Books appear unread and could almost pass as as-new. There are two different types of dust jackets and volume 1 is dated 1947 and is in unnumbered limited edition of 2050 copies and contains 655 pages. Tall softcover, blue heavy bond wraps, stable bound with paper label on front. Copies are unused with only issues being the exterior backside shows a glue stain in the bottom right corner where a price sticker once was along with some minor edge fading. The title page also has the price lightly written in pencil in the corner. This is the second edition printed in 1962. Book has been placed in a clear archival storage bag.
