Sewn, as issued, in the publishers original paper wrapper with black and green illustration and lettering to the front panel, the rear with publishers advert, lettered in black. Split to the top half of the front hinge but still intact, otherwise a clean and bright copy of this scarce little book by the Mexican revolutionary and supporter of Emeliano Zapata.

Printed by Henry Hill Limited, for Douglas Cleverdon. Bristol. 1930. LIMITED EDITION. 8vo. (8.2 x 5.2 inches). One of 350 copies, numbered and signed by Powys. Publishers green and white decorative paper covered boards with black buckram spine, lettered in gilt. A fine copy with the original prospectus loosely inserted. 300 ordinary copies were issued, numbered and signed by Powys and bound as this copy at 10s and 50 special copies, numbered 1-50, bound in quarter vellum, signed by Powys, and containing extra prints of the 2 engravings were issued at 30s. The prospectus shows the projected price for the ordinary copies (15s) crossed through and the new, lower price typed in. Although dated 1930 the book wasn't published until march 1931. --Evan Gill. Cannes. 1966. NP. 1966. Quarto (285mm x 233mm). 20 typed sheets in French (rectos only), legibly hand-corrected throughout by Brassai in black ink. Housed in a black cloth album, with each sheet in a separate clear plastic file. In excellent condition, the final page a little creased and with minor loss to right-hand side, affecting one letter. Overall fresh and clean. ------ A superb unpublished and heavily corrected manuscript in French, in which Brassai recounts his visit to Picasso, a long-standing friend, at his home near Cannes. Brassai, who photographed much of Picasso's work in the 1940s, had published Conversations with Picasso in 1964, in which he created an intimate portrait of Picasso, covering their friendship and artistic collaboration, and recording each of their meetings with minute detail.
