This is an important and historical work. Mohuot travelled up the Mekong River in search of a water passage to China. He never found it, and eventually died of malaria along the way. His record of travel, is exceptionally valuable, as his expedition up the Mekong from Saigon was the first scientif- ic work on the region. The author was a celebrated natural- ist and keen observer. His commentaries on what he saw, in terms of flora and faund are an invaluable record. Rare in any edition or language. Excellent graphic illustrations by one of the expedition artists. Nicely done.
