Edges lightly age toned, and with light creases, now mellowed. Cover offprint two-color poster from a 1967 issue of the Seattle underground bi-weekly, the work of Walt Crowley depicting the horror of the Vietnam conflict, featuring, among others, the masters of war. Although dated 1966, the artwork ran as a centerfold in Helix Vol. I No. 4. May 16, 1967. The poster was printed in three variants: blue (seen here), brown and a shade of orange-sepia. Helix joined a burgeoning underground press then including groundbreaking alternative papers the East Village Other, the Los Angeles Free Press, the Fifth Estate and the Berkeley Barb. The subjects were the author's mother (Victoria) and grandmother (Lady Emmeline). Young Victoria published selected recollections in A Young Traveller's Journal of a Tour in North and South America during the year 1850 (London: T. Bosworth, 1852), which is now rare. Indeed the volume at hand is now scarce. A handsome, presentable copy. .

With a one-page note from the Real Comet Press publisher, Catherine Hillenbrand, followed by a nine-page introduction by Douglas Kellner. Profusely illustrated throughout with gruesome b&w photos. Bound in full black cloth with white lettering stamped on front cover and spine. Slight evidence of former dampness affecting lower fore-edge corner (see photo), else Fine in a perfect dust jacket. (Please note that aberrations in photo are a result of glare, not dust jacket defect.). The first printing of this handsome edition of Friedrich's monumental agitprop. Friedrich's threat to the rising National Socialists was so significant that the Nazi Party commandeered his anti-war museum. With perverse irony, the museum transitioned to a tavern for the SS. Dust jacket is now protected in a clear, archival (and removable) sleeve.
