These works were written while working as the Martin Luther King, Jr. Professor of History at Rutgers University. Professor Lewis was awarded the National Humanities Medal by President Obama in 2009. Walter J. Black Editions. Compete set of the original 75 volumes in collectible quality with 73 being reprints of Grey's original Harper & Brothers editions coupled with a Biography and The Camp Robber; a "True First" to the Walter Black series making for 75 volumes in the series.
Clean, tight and without writing in any volume, each in Very Good, very good plus condition. Each bound in red and tan cloth with blue topstain ranging from faded to brilliant. Two volumes come with rice paper as examples of how volumes were originally sold.
Zane Grey (1872-1939), in addition to being an author was also a dentist and played baseball for the University of Pennsylvania (1895). Also included is a check for $100 (adjust for inflation, $1,800) made out to Sid Boerstler, Grey's long-time captain of the sailing ship Marechal Foch (retrofitted and renamed by Grey as Fisherman) from 1928.
