London: Methuen & Co. Ltd., 1923. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Good. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, green cloth boards with gilt text on spine. Exterior shows edge and corner bumps/wear and spine is slightly faded. Interior pages are tone due to age and scattered foxing is present with some pages being severe because of the reactions with the illustration pages. The title page seems to be the worst and many of the text pages are unaffected though exterior page edges also show foxing spots. Previous owner's info is penned on the front end page in the same page has faint indication in the upper right corner where a price was once penciled. Pages are secure though there is some pulling in areas. No publication date listed (1923). First edition thus, printed in Great Britain, with no advertisements and rear of book.

Hardcover, green cloth boards with red text on front and spine. Exterior shows minor spotting and soiling but is otherwise square. Internal binding is good, no hinge issues. No signatures or bookplates, no library markings. Pages are mildly tone due to age but are overall clean with just very minor spotting and foxing, binding is tight. The top of the front end page has very, very light roughness to the finish which may indicate that something was once penciled near and then later erased. This issue is barely notable. Copyright page states the book was originally published in October 1899 and reprinted in December, June 1906, in this copy being January of 1925. An attractive copy though a rather plain exterior compared to the original 1899 edition.

Hardcover, dark green cloth boards ornately decorated in gilt on front, gilt on spine. Board show edge and corner bumps as well as some discoloring, top edge of spine has chip missing. Internal binding is good, no hinge issues other than some pulling at page 340 which is showing a thin slice of webbing. Pages are toned due to age and foxing/spotting/smudge marks are present. Front end page contains gift inscription as well as an old price that was once penciled in the corner. First edition thus with single date of 1899 appearing on the copyright page. The last few pages of the book, mainly the glossary and advertisements, of small tears along the top which is typically seen when the pages are not fully cut and was separated by the reader.

New York, Chicago, Toronto: Fleming H. Revell Company, 1907. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Good. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, pale greenish gray cloth boards with brown text on front and spine. Exterior shows light soiling and spotting with bumping and wear to edges and corners. Rear board has dent near the upper left corner and spine has several lines drawn across it with a blue pencil. Internal binding is tight but several sections show were the binding cracked and the webbing is starting to show through. Rear board also has a thin hinge crack present. Front pastedown shows where something was written along with top section and then erased which caused some fraying to the paper. Front end page has residue from where a price was penciled in the corner and then later erased. Front and rear end pages also show dark spots from reacting with paper. Pages are toned due to age and some minor foxing and spotting is present.

Chicago, IL: The Schulte Publishing Co., 1897. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Good. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, red cloth boards with black on front and spine. Exterior shows soiling and spotting, spine is lightly faded and edges and corner show bumps/wear. Rear board has a fray spot lower outside edge. Internal binding is good, no hinge issues other than a small openings starting at the front board which measures just over one half of an inch. Pages are toned due to age and quality of paper used and spotting and foxing is present. No signatures or bookplates, no library markings.

Light green cloth boards decorated on front and spine. Exterior boards and spine show soiling and sunning. Top edge gilt. Binding good, no torn or loose pages, no hinge cracks. Previous owner's name and date (Christmas 1923) shown on third front end page. Translated by Corinth LeDuc Crook. First edition thus with single date of 1898 appearing on the copyright and title pages.

Hardcover, tan cloth boards ornately decorated on front and black text on spine. Exterior shows spotting and soiling along with edge and corner bumps/wear. The front board has a smudge which is also faded the area at the words "Wally Wanderoon". Internal binding has a few issues with the worst being the hinge at the front board which has a thin crack. There was also a bit of pulling at page 150 along with a small tear along the top edge. The reason for the low condition grade of fair is because it appears the front and pages missing as the interior pages start at the half title page, which also has the original owner signature on it. No other handwriting noted, no bookplates, no library markings.

New York: Random House, 1939. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Fair-. 4to - over 9¾ - 12" tall. See photos for condition details. Call hardcover, illustrated paper covered boards with blue cloth on spine. Exterior shows scuffing and soiling along with edge and corner bumps/wear. The front board has some scrapes along with a couple child scribbling marks. Corner show heavy wear and the blue cloth at the rear hinge is split about 50% down from the top. The internal binding is good with no hinge issues inside. The front pastedown has some handwriting in the rear pastedown and end page shows a lot of pencil marks. Pages are toned due to age and there is some spotting and smudge marks present. Going through each page we found an orange smudge mark on the page where Jiminy Cricket is standing on the violin but the rest the pages only show minor spotting. Red cloth boards with gilt on front and spine. Spine is tanned and there is an ink dripped on the lower section, dampstain on rear which has faded the color. Interior binding good, no hinge issues, no signatures or bookplates. The dampstain that is on the back board also affects the last page plus end pages, only long the top edge and comes nowhere near the text.

Also stamped 12 Mar 1975 on copyright page. Ink stamp on front end page by the Library of Congress stating Surplus Duplicate. Interior is clean and binding good. No remainder marks or handwriting in book. Our original store price was penciled inside front cover but has since been erased. Reprint of 1892 edition. Binding tight as book is unread.

Hardcover, blue cloth boards show quite a bit of spotting and soiling, the turn-in edges of both boards show spotting and fading to the cloth. Internal binding is good, no hinge issues other than some minor pulling such as at page 284. No signatures or personal bookplates, no library markings, no handwriting found. The front pastedown contains the original bookstore label for the Philadelphia Occult Book Company. Pages are toned due to age and there is some light scattered spotting present, though nothing severe. Note: there is no publication date on the title page or copyright page. The only date found in the book is on the preface which shows a date of 1896. The publisher year of CA 1910 is based on the advertisement on the rear pastedown, which advertises a book titled After Death, by William T. Stead, as is book was published in 1909.

Hardcover, green cloth boards ornately decorated on front and spine. Exterior shows scuffing and spotting, with loss to the finish of the cloth which causes light spots. Spine is mildly sunned, edges and corners show bumps/wear. The internal binding is good, no hinge issues. Pages are very lightly toned due to age and there is foxing spots, which appear mainly along the bottom part of the pages, plus the end pages and pastedowns which are fully covered with foxing spots. The front end page contains a signature, no other handwriting found except for an indentation from a price once penciled in the corner. New York: Dodd, Mead & Company, 1901. Hardcover. Fine/VG-. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. H. C. Christy (Howard Chandler Christy). Hardcover with original dust jacket. A beautiful example of this book, rarely found in this condition. Art nouveau green cloth boards with gilt lettering and design on front and spine. This book had always been stored with dust jacket so boards are bright and crisp. There are some very small spots to the shine of the cloth. Only issue with the interior of book is on the front pastedown someone had written their name and address and then erased it. Very minor toning two pages, binding is good and strong, corners are sharp. This is a very beautiful book in very beautiful condition, fine condition with dust jacket in VG- condition. See photos.

Cedar Rapids, IA: The Torch Press, 1938. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Near Fine/Fair. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover with dust jacket. DJ is heavily chipped along top edge as well as soiled and also a chip missing on the lower spine, about 3 inches up from the bottom. Jackie did a good job protecting the book has blue cloth shows only minor handling and scuffing. Rear board has some scratches and a yellow spot where the DJ color transferred over. Interior pages are clean and binding is tight, no hinge issues. Inscribed and signed by the author (to Mr. and Mrs. Arthur S. Henderson) and signed by the author with the date September 1, 1938. That some foxing is noted, mainly limited to the end pages and exterior page edges. Dust jacket has been placed in a protective sleeve after photos were taken for this listing.

DJ quite soiled with numerous edge and corner chips/tears, price is clipped on the front flap. Blue cloth boards underneath are fairly clean though spine is extremely spotted by the color is gone from the cloth. Internal binding is good, no hinge issues. Pages are tone due to age and some foxing is present domain the limited to the end pages. Inscribed and signed by the author on the backside of the frontispiece: "To David M. Key with author's complements and best wishes. Tom Ireland 408-9 Bulkley Building, Cleveland, Ohio". Copyright page states second impression, July 1935.

Publication states restricted on both cover and title page. This paragraph has been crossed out with an X out on title page. Binding is tight and spine is uncracked. Upper corner bumped and front and back boards are soiled with the stain on the bottom edge. Someone had penned a $1.00 price on the front board, top edge center. See photos.

This pages also marked by the bookplate paper interacting with the page. No other handwriting noted. Christiansen thus with single publication date of November 1917 listed on the copyright page. All fourteen illustrations have been verified as being present and attached, map is also attached in the rear of the book. Pages are toned due to age and some minor spotting and foxing is present. Top edge is dust darkened.

Hardcover with dust jacket. Stated first printing on the copyright page. This is the upgraded edition with the pictorial cover that matches the DJ. In the jacket is the first state, which does not have the gold seal present. The price is clipped at the top of the front flap. DJ shows minor scuffing and soiling and the reason it is graded as only VG is because there is some bumping and fractional tears along the top edge, mainly around the spine area. Pictorial boards underneath show only very slight edge bumping. The internal binding is good and pages are very tight, and it appears the book was never read.
