La pubblicazione di questo libro è stata possibile grazie alla scoperta, fatta da Giorgio Marconi nello studio di Man ray in Rue Ferou 2 a Parigi, delle 50 fotografie originali qui riprodotte. L'insieme delle foto era stato progettato come libro dallo stesso Man Ray, e fu rifiutato però dagli editori negli anni '50.
