About This Item

London: Weidenfeld and Nicolson, 1963. First edition. Cloth. Very Good Indeed/Very Good. 8" by 5". None. The first UK edition of Henry Miller's second volume in his popular but controversial trilogy, 'The Rosy Crucifixion'. The first UK edition of this work. In the original publisher's unclipped dustwrapper. 'Plexus' is the second volume in Miller's 'Rosy Crucifixion' trilogy. The trilogy is a fictionalised account of the six years that Henry Miller lived in Brooklyn, as he fell for his second wife, June, and struggled to become a writer, which led to his leaving for Paris in 1928. The trilogy was originally banned in the US, and was only published in France and Japan. It wasn't until 1964 that the Supreme Court allowed it to be published. This volume tells of Miller's marriage to Mona, and his attempts to become a writer, after he leaves his job at the Cosmodemonic Telegraph. Henry Miller was an American author, best known for his controversial works, most famously his novel 'Tropic of Cancer'. He developed the new type of semi-autobiographical novel. In the original publisher's cloth binding, in the original unclipped dustwrapper. Externally, smart. A few light spots to the fore edge. Dustwrapper with some edgewear and light marks and spots. Two small closed tears to the head of the front wrap. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Very Good Indeed
