Splendid collection of 21 fine engravings of London buildings, with short accompanying descriptions. St Paul's, Westminster Abbey, 'Buckingham House', Horse Guards, Carlton Place, Pantheon, Bank of England and Westminster Bridge among the subjects. Some foxing and a little marking. Bound in half-leather with marbled paper boards, all heavily worn. Gilt titling to spine. Scarce. Folio. 20pp + plates.

Jules Engel, 1973. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Very Good/No Jacket. Remarkably scarce typographic art book by Engel, hailed as the inventor of modern animation for his work with Disney and UPA. From WorldCat listings, this is the 1973 first edition, predating the Philip Morris Studios imprint by a year. Correctly, according to the listing, it displays no bibliographic information. In VG/near-fine internal condition throughout, crisp, clean and bright on light cream stock. Unpaginated. Landscape 255 x 165mm. One page affected by a small paper fault which has produced a short crease. Bright white endpapers. Clean cream cloth with gilt titling to front. Very lightly bumped to bottom right corners. Extensively illustrtaed.All in VG internal condition. Sympathetically rebound with original covers laid on new pale green cloth front and back. These somewhat marked. 4to. 285pp

A 10 volume set of The K-H Newsletters including all issues from No.1 of 30th June 1936 to No. 259, 26th June 1941. Thus providing a complete weekly record of the period from rearmament to the mid Second World War. The analysis of King-Hall, playwright, submariner, and during the life of this newsletter, MP, is fascinating, circulated to subscribers (of which there were 602 at launch) and providing information and views from many parts of the Empire and beyond. 10 x uniform volumes bound in green cloth boards with bright gold titling. Some very light spotting to edges, but justifying 'near fine' condition. Volumes 1 to 7 signed by Steven King-Hall. Volume 8 includes apologetic note that "circumstances make it impossible for him to continue this practice". c.5Kg in weight so please enquire re postage.

A little toning to pages and occasional light marking but generally in VG order throughout. Armorial bookplate of Sir Martin Browne Ffolkes to front pastedown. Full leather with gilt rules to front and rear, bands to spine and gilt titling to red leather label. Boards and spine worn to all edges but still attractive. Kristiania: Carl C Werner & Komps, 1873. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Good/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Very scarce annual reports of the Society For The Preservation Of Norse Antiquities, for the years 1872 to 1877, bound as one volume. Complete with numerous plates, fold-out charts, diagrams, etc, some in colour. Norwegian language. In general good order throughout. Occasional foxing, but most of the contents clean, crisp and bright. Front endpaper split at hinge, but well bound and holding firm. Quarter black leather rather worn. Gilt banding to spine but no title. 8vo. 168, 164, 205, 270, 208, 296pp, + numerous plates, supplements, etc.

This issue from early 1903, the third year of publication, features 20 full-page designs, all in colour and some with additional silver overprinting. One illustration is ink marked, appears to be printing fault. Front cover (Japanese script) is toned. English language cover has (filing?) label attached and is dulled. Stock is occasionally lightly marked, a little toned but in general good order. Stab binding with silk thread. Exceptionally scarce 1st edition, 1st printing, of Crompton's entertaining - and in places quite dark - wartime novel. In general VG internal order with a spot or two to prelims, but otherwise clean and bright. Neat name and address in ink to front pastedown, dated 1943. Red cloth with bright gilt titling to spine a little bumped and lightly marked. Base of spine is lightly worn and faded. D/j, in removable protective sleeve, is heavily worn with numerous tears and loss to spine and edges of front panel. 8vo. 279pp

Complete 12 volume set, uniformly bound and in general good order throughout. 21 of the 25 required plates are present, including the fold-out genealogy. Some foxing, generally to early and late pages of each volume, but bar a little toning, mostly clean and bright. All block edges attractively marbled to match endpapers and paper-covered boards. Half vellum binding, a little grubby, with gilt lining and decoration to spine. Red leather title and volume labels in 2nd and 4th compartment of spines. Boards showing a little wear to edges and with some volumes, to marbled paper. Nevertheless a handsome set. More information and photographs on request. French language. Leipzig: F U Brockhaus, 1858. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Good/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Scarce early work on child care, welfare, exercise and fitness at home and school. Of particular interest are the two fold-out pages of exercise diagrams to the rear. These and all else in good order, with just occasional foxing, moreso to endpapers. Half leather, worn to corners and head of spine, with marbled paper-covered boards. Bright gilt titling to spine. German language. 8vo. 195pp

London: George Newnes, 1899. Hardcover. Good/No Jacket. Exceptionally scarce complete run of The Captain, the popular boys' magazine which ran from April 1999 to March 1924. 50 volumes bound in 44, with one volume (8) duplicated. Mixed bindings, mainly publisher's pictorial cloth, and in general good order throughout with just a couple poorly repaired. Toning to stock commensurate with paper age and quality; some loose pages and occasional shaken bindings, but this rare and for the most part all is sound. This is the set used by author and bibliographer Chris Harte to compile his authoritative history and bibliography of the magazine. Weight c.65Kg so please enquire re shipping. A handsome and complete nine volume set of Avray Tipping's masterwork on English country house architecture. All first editions from 1921 onwards bar one, and uniformly bound in publisher's smart blue cloth with quarter blue buckram and gilt tilting to fronts and spines. Gilt to all edges bar one vol. In VG, clean and bright order throughout. All volumes show light shelfwear and fading to spines. Other minor faults noted below.
