Corners and spine rubbed, superficial cracking to front inner hinge but hoding tightly, binding is sound, former owner's bookplate and bookseller's small label on front pastedown, owner's name on front free endpaper, contents are mildly toned and there is a very occasional marginal note. A fascinating and often witty critique of American society in the 1830s. Howes H-138.

Published after the death of Abbott in 1877 with a small note at end of page 4 by Russell Conwell. The volume is bound in yellow cloth covers with stamped gilt and black letter/ornamentation on the spine and front cover. The frontispiece depicts George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Andrew Jackson, and Andrew Johnson. It has small water stain in left corner.

H.H. Hardesty, 1889. Hardcover. Poor/No Jacket. 1889. Hinge is broken. Spine covering is coming loose, making cover and pages loose. Contents pages are present but loose. Spine covering is missing. Quite a bit of wear and tear to the book. Appropriate for a reading copy.

Hardcover book with incised gold lettering on the cloth boarded cover. Also on the cover is the signature of H. Thomas Austern in black ink. The 61 page book is in good condition. First cover page is ink stamped with the name H. Thomas Austern and scattered throughout brownish toning to the front and back cover pages. All else is fine. Binding is tight, minor wear at the corner of covers. H.T. Austern was a well known food and drug law attorney for more than 50 years, it is not known if the book was his or if he signed it for someone. This book is a special edition that the Washington Post had prepared by an independent council as to explain the many interpretations of the laws of the Robinson-Patman Act so the average American businessman could understand and put to use. Published in 1936; 61 pages; 11 1/4" x 8 1/2". Good condition. Very Scarce!!.

This 640-page hardback book gives information about a host of geographic places in South Dakota, starting with amphitheatres, badlands, bars, basins ... and ending with walls, water courses, and wells. As the editor notes: "Every given region carries in its place names some record of the people who from time to time have inhabited it." The book is in very good plus condition with a tight spine and binding. There is a moving gift dedication on the first paste-down page to a previous owner; it is signed by 13 colleagues, staff and students. Otherwise, the book is clear of extraneous writing, underlining or marks. The dust jacket is in good condition with small tears and wrinkling across the top edge.
