About This Item

1837 Naval History Britain War of 1812 British NAVY Ships WARS 6v HMS Spartan

William James was a 19th-century British naval historian who wrote numerous military history texts. One of his best works was 'The Naval History of Great Britain' which was written in response to many of the perspectives on the War of 1812. James was highly critical of British Captain Edward Brenton, who wrote a history of British naval warfare that seemed to be both unreliable and heavily biased.

This impressive, six-volume set includes numerous diagrams of the formations of British naval fleets.
