One of an unspecified but small number of proof impressions of the highly ornate floral title-page border by Behmer for the 1903 edition of Wilde's SALOME, translated by Hedwig Lachmann, and published in an edition of only fifty copies on Japan vellum. Captioned in pencil beneath the image "Fuer Buchen Behmer 24.XII.03 M.B." A pencil note in another hand indicates "Titel-Rahmen."

Kaishien Gaden (Manual of the Mustard Seed Garden) is an Edo-Era Japanese edition of the very popular Chinese painting guide Jieziyuan Huazhaun by Wang Gai, first published in the Qing Dynasty in China (1701). The manual was reprinted many times from 1748 onwards in Japan.Four volumes from the Second Collection, with drawing instructions and examples for ume plums and kiku chrysanthemums. With three two-color intaglio prints. Designed, illustrated, printed, and bound by the author in an edition of one hundred numbered and signed copies; this is one of sixty which were for sale. Light wear to corners and edges, spine label curling slightly, with a lean to the spine and a touch of toning to page edges, still a very good copy of a fragile production. Fourteen severely brief three-line poems, with less austere and even playful illustrations. The author notes, "The purpose of these Triads is to offer something very near the ultimate in poetic simplicity. They aim to bring together two unrelated elements by a third in such a way that an unstated meaning may be suggested to the reader." Like all of the Gogmagog productions, an elegant and scarce book.
