Small losses to spine tips, chip to corner of back panel (1 cm triangle), short tear with associated creases to front panel. Book has very slight insect scarring to the compressed page edges and a few pages with creased corners (appear deliberate), small green dot on the back paste down and a slight bump to the top of the spine. Please view the images for clarity. Still a nice copy of a scarce title. Will ship insured.

U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey, Washington, D.C., 1911; Large 26" x 32" map showing, on the landward side, from Malaga Cove in the west to Naples in the east, with points in between such as Rocky Point, Point Vicente, Portuguese Bend, San Pedro, Point Fermin, Smith’s Island, Wilmington, Bixby Slough, Long Beach, etc. On the seaward side shows depths in fathoms as far out as 8 nautical miles, with notations as to water colors, buoy locations, lights, etc. Published November, 1911, compiled from the 1870 to 1910 surveys. Stamped in the blank bottom margin, "Lights, Beacons, and Buoys Corrected For Information Received To July 17, 1912." Scale: 1:40,000. Printed on heavy paper. Rolled, not folded. Very Good condition, with no chips or tears. A few scattered transparent stains. A scarce early map of Los Angeles Harbor.

About 8 1/2" x 11" stapled booklet with 88 glossy pages about the ship including photos of the officers and the ship's sponsor, Cindy McCain. There is a 4 page tissue type paper in the center listing the Schedule of Events. The cover states, UNITED STATES SHIP JOHN S. McCAIN (DDG 56) with the McCain Family Crest in the center Commissioning July 2, 1994 Bath, Maine. Inside front cover explains the symbolism of the Crest. Inside back cover has the Navy Hymn. The softcover is somewhat dirty with an ink mark and a paperclip indent. Inside Near Fine. Also includes a bifold 4 page Contributor's Brochure which is very worn along the foredge from being inserted into the booklet - same size.

New York, Cassell & Company Ltd., 1988. This is the New and Revised Edition with "The Season of 1887", not the Limited Edition. 27 x 19 cm. 200 p. Includes illustrations, maps, and diagrams. Frontispiece of The Yacht Mayflower in 1886 with 140 line drawings of yachts at sea in-text with other engravings and decorations including one of the Americas Cup. The text is divided into several sections, The History of American Yachting from the early days of the New York Yacht Club to 1885, The Mayflower and Galatea Races of 1886, American Steam Yachting, British Yachting and American Yachting in 1886 and 1887. This copy remains in a good condition. The blue cloth boards are rubbed at the edges and have sustained some tearing along the top and bottom edge of the spine. The binding is tight and the text remains in a clean condition. Heavy extra postage at cost. Heavy requires more postage.

Pamphlet circa 1809. The wreck of the HMS Centaur in September, 1782 is a famous event with many accounts. The Centaur left Jamaica for England and sank in a hurricane. The survivors drifted for 16 days before arriving in the Azores. Twelve survived while 400 were lost. Pamphlets of this type were sometimes sold separately and sometimes bound in volumes. This item appears disbound from a larger volume but may still be regarded as complete. There is a note at bottom of page 2 "3d Ed. 17,000" making this a later printing. WorldCat locates 1 copy but it is from a different publisher. See OCLC: 751357712. Condition is Good: disbound from larger volume. Closed tear affecting pages 1-2 (see image). Paginates: (1)-12. Fourteen volumes in original hardcovers. Series 1: volumes 4, 5, 6, 8, 10, 11, 12, 15, 20, 21, 22, 23, 25, 26. 1896-1914. Generally condition runs from Good to Very Good plus. These are heavy volumes that are prone to binding failures when handled improperly. Some of these volumes are sound, some strengthened with new endpapers, some where binding is starting. None have failed bindings. The earlier volumes show more general wear to the boards than later volumes. I have prepared a more complete condition report on each volume so feel free to inquire. This rare, privately-printed copy is one of only 100 that were printed by the prestigious early twentieth-century Grabhorn Press of San Francisco. Wrapper has bumps and creases to edges and corners. Some fading and soiling to binding. Moderate-sized tear along one edge of upper spine. Tissue guard for frontispiece is loose from binding. Pages have browned with aging. No internal markings. Pages are "unopened". Black and white and color illustrations and a fold-out map.

Drawn from nature by the famous Dutch traveler and topographer Cornelis de Bruyn (1652-1726) this is an accurate depiction of the late 17th century. FIRST EDITION.Published in " Reizen van Cornelis de Bruyn...". RARE LARGE PAPER EDITION with exceptional large margins. Size of the illustrated area : 36 27cm. - With margins: 48,5 x 39 Strong paper quality, clear imprint of the etching.
