Description:
1827. Book. Very Good. Full-Leather. This is a one of a kind original handwritten working manuscript by the famous French chansonnier, Pierre-Jean de Béranger. These chansons are dated 1827 and were subsequently published in his fourth collection of chansons, the one which precipitated his punishment of nine months imprisonment in La Force Prison. In addition, there is one page which seems to be a crossed out chanson that may not have been published. The manuscript is about 32 pages long (with additional blank pages). The chansons are written in Béranger's hand and contain alterations and edits. It is a real, working manuscript. This is really a museum quality piece that would also be the jewel of any private collection. Text in French. Rebound in flexible red leather boards with gold gilt titles. Leather boards have edge wear, minor scratches, minor scuffs, rubbed/frayed corners/spine..

Description:
Large oblong folio. Spiral bound. 53 pp. Notated in pencil on 18-stave manuscript paper with numerous revisions, additions, and annotations in lead and blue pencil. Commissioned jointly by the New York Philharmonic and Kölnmusik and the Orchestre National de Lyon, Through the Ancient Valley was first performed on 14 March 2001 by the New York Philharmonic with Kurt Masur conducting and Yo-Yo Ma as soloist; Mr. Ma was also soloist in the first performances in France and Germany. "Both [of Danielpour's] cello concerti... embrace dualities. In Through the Ancient Valley (2000), several of these are specific to the work and are suggested by the title. There was a literal valley through which ancient travelers passed from East to West. This trade route, in use for about 1,500 years beginning in the second century B.C., is part of ancient history, thus one dichotomy that Danielpour examines is that of ancient versus modern eras. In addition, the valley represents the physical distance between East and… Read More

New York: E. P. Dutton, 1943. First Edition; First Printing. Hardcover. Book condition is Very Good; with a Very Good dust jacket. Edge wear to jacket, including a few chips. Two scuffs to paper at jacket rear panel. Minor foxing. Crease to bottom corner of a few pages. Text is clean and unmarked, frontispiece. First Edition is stated, first issue jacket present. An inscription as vibrant and humble as would be expected of Guthrie; written upside down, one can picture the book being handed to Guthrie and him signing before rotating the book. Guthrie tells the recipient, Marshall, "I hope you find some real 'fight' in this book..." Inscription is dated to April 1943, a few weeks after the book's publication. It would be difficult to underestimate Guthrie's influence on American folk music and as well as American popular music. As academic arguments persist about the great American novel, Guthrie's musical work and this book itself are distinctly American in attitude, imagery and… Read More

Very rare edition of the earlier Spanish sentimental romance, originally published in Valencia in 1513.
About the authorship of Qüestión de amor, one of the most intriguing among the Spanish sentimental romances:
"In a series of articles on the authorship of the earlier sentimental romance Qüestión de amor, I suggested first that the anonymous author was a member of the aristocratic Cardona family (1994a) basing this attribution on a series of clues deeply imbedded within the text itself – in other words, evidence interior to the work. Furthermore, I suggested that the author was the poet Alonso de Cardona whose work was found in the Cancionero General of 1511 (1994b and 2006). Finally,… Read More

Description:
Fantastic printed music score for voice and piano for this opera in full signed on the opposite to the title page by Puccini and Evan Gorga, the first Rodolfo. Gorga wrote a long sentiment and signed this at a very old age to an Italian opera fan and collector, dating his autograph in 1952. Puccini signed and dated his autograph apparently in 1903 (the exact number is hard to read) in Torre del Lago.
Cesira Ferrani signed on page 70, at the beginning of her most famous aria, "Mi Chiamanó Mimi".
Both Gorga and Ferrani were the creators of the Rodolfo and Mimi roles in the world premiere of this opera, in 1896.
This is an early edition of this score, published in 1898 by Giulio Ricordi, 277 numbered pages, nice light teal-colored hardcovers with golden designs on front and verso, spine is in good condition with some professional repairs on corners, spotted rust on some of the first pages, 8.25 x 11 inches, in overall very good condition.
Autographs of both Evan Gorga and Cesira Ferrani are exceedingly… Read More
