1940 edition of Rebecca, by Daphne De Maurier, with facsimile signatures of Du Maurier and the stars of the movie, Joan Fontaine and Lawrence Olivier (see photos and below). Our research suggests that this edition of the book was issued as a commemoration of the release of Hitchcock's movie.

Sought-after collectors' book and piece of Hollywood memorabilia. We believe the latter price is disproportionate.

Condition: Very Good, with mild scuffing and soil to front and rear cover and previous owner's signature on interior of front cover. The gentlest of edge wear. Small dent (impression of side of a pencil) on side of back cover board. Otherwise tight binding, sharp cover boards, and clean interior. As always, we disclose all issues. In protective mylar sleeve.

About the Book: "Rebecca is a 1938 Gothic novel written by English author, Daphne du Maurier. The novel depicts an unnamed young woman who impetuously marries a wealthy widower, before discovering that both he and his household are haunted by the memory of his late first wife, the title character. A bestseller which has never gone out of print, Rebecca sold 2.8 million copies between its publication in 1938 and 1965. It has been adapted numerous times for stage and screen, including a 1939 play by du Maurier herself, the film Rebecca (1940), directed by Alfred Hitchcock, which won the Academy Award for Best Picture, and the 2020 remake directed by Ben Wheatley for Netflix.
