Established in 1998 Anybook Ltd. has sold tens of thousands of scholastic books to university libraries, academics, students and reflective bibliophiles throughout the world. As the majority of our books are ex-library they are well bound, in good, clean condition and ideally suited for study and research. Our books cover a huge range of academic disciplines from Mathematics, Science and Philosophy to Art and Literature as well as many works in other European languages.
Astrolabe Booksellers is the leading antiquarian/ second-hand/used bookseller in Australia's island state. Proprietor Michael Sprod is a long-standing member of the Australian and New Zealand Association of Antiquarian Booksellers. Our premises are located on the first floor of a refurbished early colonial warehouse in Hobart's historic Salamanca Place, adjacent to the Sullivan's Cove wharves. This area was once the thriving centre of the Southern Ocean whaling trade and, then as now, the departure port for many Antarctic voyages. We carry a good range of antiquarian and second-hand books on a wide variety of subjects, specialising in works on Tasmania, Australia, Antarctica, Aborigines (especially Tasmanian), and maritime subjects.
Often booksellers specialize in certain areas and are very knowledgeable about collecting within those genres or topics. Some of these specialists on Biblio are the pre-eminent dealers in their fields of expertise, supplying leading academic and public institutions with rare and significant material. For the public or private collector, it can be very useful to identify and form relationships with booksellers who specialize in their field of interest. Booksellers' specialties are as varied as the books they carry.
Many of our booksellers are members of professional trade associations, which generally means they have agreed to do business according to a professional set of standards and/or ethics and that they work together to share knowledge and promote the overall integrity of used and antiquarian bookselling.
