Bernie was a popular bandleader of the 1920s and 30s known for his sense of humor and trademark expression, "Yowsah! Yowsah! Yowsah!" Harry Cohn was known for his autocratic and intimidating management style, and asking for and expecting sex from female stars in exchange for employment (the Harvey Weinstein of his day).
The lot includes newspaper and radio gossip columnist Walter Winchell's March 8, 1937 check payable to Bernie, as well as sheet music for 3 songs ('Y' Got Me Baby,' 'Lonesome in the Moonlight' and 'Mrs. Astor's Horse') bearing Bernie's image, the 8 1/2" x 11' 30pp 'The Royal Palm Review of 1940 Musical Hits' and a 10" x 14" card promoting 'Ben Bernie's Blue Ribbon Malt Orchestra' (sponsor of his radio series). The rare catalogue of the Liverpool Museum of Anatomy, describing in detail the Museum's contents and policies, and illustrating its interior by an engraving on the lower cover. The Liverpool Museum of Anatomy was one of a number of such museums in the UK and US that specialised in wax anatomical models and, unlike many of the museums of professional medical organisations, were open to the public. An early precursor to Mad Magazine, it was "stuffed with parodies of national advertisements and consumer magazines and sprinkled liberally with topical and risque cartoons and gags." In the first issue alone the magazine uses cartoons to tackle topics such as prohibition, economic conditions, homelessness, and organized crime. (Joseph P. 1750. Rare printing of Doctor Faust's chapbook in Dutch. Woodcut on title, 58 (repeated) woodcut illustrations. A total of 60 vignettes. Complete. More recent paper covers. These are somewhat rubbed with significant rubbing and loss to the spine. Written number to the front cover. The date c.1750 is printed on the remnant of a catalogue label stuck to the front cover. The impressions of the engravings are somewhat are somewhat blurred. P. 41, repeated on p. 76, the illustrations are not woodcuts but metalcuts. The shape of the heads of the nails with which the plates were mounted on wood are printed on many of them. A nice example. 86 (2) pp. 205 x 165 mm (8 x 6½ inches). The Mutual Orange Distributors (MOD) was founded in Redlands, California, in 1906 as a cooperative marketing association representing citrus growers in California. Within a few years, the coop included citrus growers in western Arizona. In 1955, MOD changed its name to Pure Gold, originally the brand name for fruit grown by the approximately 2,500 MOD growers. Sunkist took over the Pure Gold trademark when the co-op closed in 1987 due to housing developments replacing the citrus fields and the shrinking number of packing plants. This booklet explains the history of the citrus-growing culture in California and Arizona and provides information on the variety of oranges, lemons, and grapefruit grown and their cultivation and packaging. A map on the back shows the regions represented by the Pure Gold cooperative. Scarce, none located in OCLC. B&w illustrations and halftone photographs. (11"x8-1/2")

On his mother's side, he was a descendant of Thomas Hastings who came from the East Anglia region of England to the Massachusetts Bay Colony in 1634.[1] Adams received his early training in the Amherst, Massachusetts public schools and Phillips Exeter Academy. There is pen and pencil writing internally, and with the numerous corrections to dates and times, we presume that this program was used to draft the program for the coming season; that is, the corrections to dates, times, sponsors, and the league officers are indicated so that the new season's program will be updated. We could find no information about the "Queen Pin League," but it clearly seems to have been an all-women bowling league in the Cleveland area (with all Cleveland city businesses as sponsors). A light pencil drawing on the rear cover might be a mock-up for a new cover design. Highly ephemeral piece of Cleveland women's bowling history.
