Title page in red and black. Preface lightly tones. Otherwise, pages clean and free of marking, soiling, staining or foxing. Bound in later bookbinder's board with paper spine. Covers lightly rubbed and spine a little darkened. A very good copy of this scarce 18th Century treatment of, among others, the Augustinian, Benedictine, Cistercian, Carmelite, Dominican, Franciscan and Jesuit orders, accompanied with a general history and treatment of monasticism.
