About This Item

Cincinnati; (1910): Jennings and Graham. First Edition. Octavo. . [8], 11-429, pp. Inscribed by the author to a close friend "For Eleanor Saunderson (or Launderson)/ Come with me, and you shall know/The garden where God's flowers grow. /Come with me and you shall hear/His waters whisper songs of cheer. / Gene Stratton-Porter, /Limberlost Cabin/Wildflower Woods, /Indiana./Christmas of/Nineteen hundred and sixteen. There are two small advertisements laid in. One has a photographic image of the author and she had written below "This is a recent photo likeness in our woods last summer. According to David MacLean, Stratton-Porter rarely signed anything as she liked her privacy. Those books that she did sign were usually for close friends or relatives. A very nice copy bound in 1/4 white cloth over green cloth, lettered and decorated in dark green and gilt, spine lettering gilt, tiny split to cloth near the foot of the upper board, no names, books plates or foxing.
