Description:
Pont Casse Press, 2012. 1st Edition . Soft cover. SOLD/No Jacket, As Issued. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. pp: 352. A history of the former French colonies during The Second World War. The islands of Guadeloupe and Martinique were under the control of the Vichy French, who were in turn under the control of Nazi Germany. The islands were ruled by Admiral Robert, who was a noted racist, antisemitic, and collaborationist. An armed uprising by the citizens of the islands in 1943 freed them of Vichy control. The appendices contain a partial list of the Free French Forces in Dominica during this period. A fascinating history of a little known aspect of World War II. This is a near fine copy with light creasing to the top edge of a couple of page. Inscribed and signed by the author on the title page.
