Jonathan Baker's House on Lime Street Unknown -

by Neil, J. Savage

From the publisher

Jonathan Baker's House on Lime Street tells the stories of a group of friends and acquaintances who spend more or less of their time together and apart in the personal library of Jonathan Baker, the scion of a family who arrived in America long before the Revolution. A disparate group that includes a policeman dismissed from the department for using excessive force, a prize winning newspaper reporter fired for drunkenness, Jonathan's brother, who graduated from Harvard with a "gentleman's C" and spends his time reading "Romantic Novels" and ancient classics in the original Greek and Latin; an African-America owner of several automobile repair shops who is dedicated to extricating young black men from the violence and self destruction he himself escaped; a Catholic priest whose moral dilemma threatens to destroy his priesthood; and the Jewish business partner of Jonathan who is having a very poor year in his annual drive to raise money for the fledgling State of Israel and thus to be avoided.A story of their traverse on a journey long or short from darkness to light. All presided over by the strongest of them all, Jonathan's wife, Constance Baker.
