Description:
Beloit, WI: Museums of Beloit College, 1992. Scholarly account of the 1920s acquisition and contents of "one of the single most important collections of French Paleolithic artifacts (ca. 21,500 objects) outside of France"; twelve articles in all: two on the history of the collection and ten on some of its contents. The nucleus of the collection of the Logan Museum of Anthropology was given to Beloit College in 1894 by Chicago financier Frank G. Logan, who continued to support the museum & its collecting interests for decades. Today the museum holds a remarkably rich collection for an institution of any size, well-augmented by the European collecting trips of Alonzo Pond, as described here. Large paperback, as shown, with light creasing, corners a bit curled, one corner damaged, spine creased. [4], 367 pages, bibliographies, b/w photos, line drawings, figures.. First Edition. Paperback. Very Good. 8½" by 11".
