Denmark 2011. With the exhibition Baselitz Re-Mixed Kunstforeningen GL STRAND opened its doors to one of the most significant painters today. Georg Baselitz (b. 1938). He is one of the most prominent visual artists of his generation. The German artist works with sculpture, drawings and graphic art, but is best known for his characteristic paintings whose subjects are often shown ‘upside down’. This detaches the subject from the reality it represents.Now Georg Baselitz has introduced a new artistic device into his art: the remix. This is a concept taken from the world of music. In the remix pictures he re-paints his own subjects from the 1960s and 1970s. In this way he looks at his paintings afresh and renews himself.
