About This Item

New York, NY: Harry N. Abrams, Inc. , 1984 Harry N. Abrams, Inc., New York. 1984. Hardcover. First Edition. Book is tight, square, and unmarked. Book Condition: Fine. DJ: Very Good; rubbing and bumping to panels. Blue cloth boards and spine with bright white lettering on the spine. 240 pp 4to. As America was growing industrial might in the late 1800s, many of the prominent industrialists set out to acquire European arts and furnishings for their mansions, much of which was purchased at the American Art Association on Madison Square, which later became Parke-Bernet and today is known as Sotheby's. This is the story of the collectors and of the works of art that were purchased, how much they cost, who purchased them, and who sold them. A clean very presentable copy.

I also have holdings of books on the Middle East, the southwestern United States (New Mexico especially, Kansas related titles, Oklahoma related titles, and other regionally specialized books.
