The writings are divided into four regions: 1. The Americas, 2. The British Isles; 3. Europe; and 4. Asia. The selections were made based on ballots submitted by educators, librarians, editors, booksellers (!) and distinguished authors, among others. Back matter includes brief biographies of the authors, lists of the voters, and indices of authors and titles. --- In beige cloth-covered boards with spine titling in blue; decorations in gilt. Volume lacks the dust jacket. --- A sound, tightly-bound copy though with with minor wear to cover edges and mild dulling to spine gilding.; Octavo - 8 to 9 in. tall; xxv, 1186 pages .
