USA: N.Y / New York / Boston, MA: The Century Co., Ives Washburn, Simon & Schuster, Little, Brown & Co., Farrar & Rinehart, Putnam, Harvard University Press, 1922, 1925, 1928, 1930, 1931, 1937, 1941, 1947, 1953, all are 1st Edition, First Printing ------------( all are 1st printing of the First Edition ) ---11 volumes (ONE SHIPPING CHARGE -extra shipping might be required depending upon destination -if an issue please inquire before ordering ), all 11 books are hardcovers, only 2 books have dustjackets, all 11 books are Kempton family member copies or were Kempton’s personal copies, 9 books have been signed by Kempton with 2 being signed to members of his family (wife and daughter ?), generally speaking some of these volumes have bumps and bruises but nothing terribly significant (if so that will be mentioned in the description below ), titles and descriptions are as follows: 1] PHANTOM GOLD, The Century Co., 1922, about 5w x 7.5h inches, a solid Very Good example, light rubbing and soiling, age darkening to the spine, offset from a pressed plant on pages 12/13, front flap of dustjacket pasted in at 2nd blank front endpaper, illustrations by George Varian, author’s signature and Newtonville, MA address written on front blank endpaper 2] RED EAGLE ISLAND, The Century Co., 1925, about 5w x 7.5h inches, a solid Good example, light rubbing and soiling, spine has been reglued as it was detached along one side, looks quite nice overall, illustrated by George Avison, signed by KPK with his Newtonville address as well as the date of Set 11 1925 [3] The LUCK of the BLUE MACAW, 1928, Ives Washburn, about 5w x 7.5h inches, a solid Good example, sunning to the spine and front board, fraying to cloth at tips, short tear along spine and front hinge, signed by KPK with his Newtonville address, illustrated by Manning de V Lee [4] The BOYS’ TRADER HORN, Simon & Schuster, 1928, about 5.5w x 8h inches, illustrated by Berdanier ( Paul Frederick Berdanier ), a solid Very Good example, some age toning to the spine, light wear and soiling, signed K P Kempton on the front blank endpaper [5] LOOT of the FLYING DRAGON, Little, Brown, 1930, about 5.5w x 8h inches, a solid VG example, light wear and rubbing, short nicks at upper spine tip, some sunning along the upper edge, illustrated by Wilfred Jones, signed K P Kempton 3 Jan 1930 on the front endpaper [6] DRAGON'S THUNDER, Little, Brown, 1931, about 5.5w x 8.25h inches, light wear and rubbing, rear hinge is secure but cracked, signed on the front endpaper K P Kempton 9 June 1931 (pub. 9 Oct. 31 ). this has also been signed by the dedicatee on the dedication page "Lucille Gulliver with warmest appreciation. LG", illustrated by Wilfred Jones [7] MONDAY GO to MEETING, Farrar & Rinehart, 1937, a solid VG example, light wear and rubbing, this is a limited edition and is copy # 1 which has been signed on the limitation page by KPK [8] SO DREAM ALL NIGHT, Putnam, 1941, a solid Good example, sunning to the spine and boards, fraying to cloth at tips, bit of loss at spine tips, signed ANNA Payson Kempton and dated 1941 but the writing looks to be by KPK so a presentation copy to his daughter (to whom he dedicated one of his books ) [9] SO DREAM ALL NIGHT, Putnam, 1941, a solid Good to Very Good example, light wear and rubbing, signed Polly Kempton on the front blank endpaper but again this looks like it was written by KPK, Polly ( Pauline Irma ) was KPK’s wife so another presentation copy [10] The SHORT STORY, Harvard University Press, 1947, 5.25w x 7.75h inches, a solid Very Good example, in a Fair only chipped and torn dustjacket, signed and inscribed "For Nan with love from Pop June 3, 1947", NAN was the dedicatee in SO DREAM ALL NIGHT and is likely KPK’s wife or maybe mother (or maybe ANNA), this title is still available from HUP as an e-text [11] SHORT STORIES for STUDY, HUP, 1953, about 5.75w x 8.25h inches, a VG+ example, in a Good dustjacket with some chips and tears, signed and dated on the front blank endpaper "K P Kempton 21 Aug 1953", this title has been edited and notated by KPK and includes some loose notes and marginalia, also includes a b&w photo of a storefront display offering KPK’s book for sale, this title is still available as an e-text from HUP, ---Kenneth Payson Kempton was born and raised in Massachusetts. He was an instructor of English at Harvard and Radcliffe and wrote articles and stories as well as his novels of Maine and was a regular contributor to mainstream magazines of the day, He was a MacDowell Fellow four times (1933, 1934, 1935, 1936), any image directly beside this listing is the actual book and not a generic photo /// SIGNED ---GUARANTEED to be AVAILABLE///---sizes are approximate (generally within 1/8 inch) --- .
