True antiquarian books of this type and quality are treasures to enjoy and pass along for more centuries. Take your time looking at the pictures and enjoying and ask any questions before buying. I try not to handle them and keep them in an archival storage facility.A FUNNY book about the antics of tourists in poetry...This was a book of humorous poetry that poet Thomas Moore wrote under the pseudonym Thomas Brown the Younger. The book is actually quite readable and the humor obvious but still worth a laugh or two at the silly folks. The book is about Irish, Scotts, Welch and English people visiting France gawking and acting goofy at the end of the Napoleonic Wars. The story is told through the letters of four characters: the father Phil Fudge, his children Bob and Biddy and the family tutor Phelim Connor. Phil is in the city researching a book which he intends to be propaganda on behalf of his patron Lord Castlereagh, the foreign secretary. His son is a dandymainly interested in the city's restaurants while his dizzy daughter is seeking romance. She falls in love with a young man who she believes to be the King of Prussia in disguise, but is in fact a draper. Printed for Longman, Hurst, Rees, Orme, and Brown, 1818. First edition. 12mo., Is this the original binding? I don't know. It certainly in 18th early 19th century style, so if it was rebound, it was when it was still fairly young and a long time ago.We sell on every book site out there but offer (INCLUDED IN THE PRICE YOU SEE) a 30 percent discount on Biblio because Biblio offers most sophisticated and best bookselling site, with the fewest errors in listings.
