Paris: Bailly, Divry and Co, 1853. Hardcover. Good. A Fortnight in Paris, Chaumerot's New Illustrated Pocket Guide in Paris" by J. Chauvier, Chaumerot, 1853. The text is in English. The rather expansive subtitle is "The History, rise and progress of the Capital to the present period, with an Itinerary through the 12 Arrondissements of Paris, and Complete Instructions For Travellers, as to the best employment of the time they may wish to devote to the examinations of this Capital to which is annexed a Superior Coloured Map of Paris; also, A list of streets, omnibus Routes, Places of public amusements, addresses of Ambassadors, Tables of English and French duties, a Description of the Environs of Paris, etc, compiled from the Best authorities. The book is arranged in a series of itineraries for 15 consecutive days, listing places to visit on each day. This book measures 3 5/8" x 5 3/4" and has 269 pages PLUS an additional 43 pages containing a lists of streets, squares, etc. It has quite a few black & white illustrations plus the fold out map of Paris. Condition: the cover has general wear and some losses at the top and bottom of the spine. The title on the front cover is gilt, but the gilt is partially worn. The title on the spine is worn (it may have been originally gilt). The cover is partially separated from the binding (see my photo, which shows the back cover and cover over the spine laid out flat. Inside pages are generally good with some light toning and foxing. A few pages (155-158 and one illustration) are completely separated from the book, but all pages seem to be present.
