Funk & Wagnalls Co, 1909. Hardcover. Good. 1909 Funk & Wagnalls Co. history of aviation with a focus on airships and dirigibles. First title in a series of ten titles issued on various subjects. Includes a "dissectible" card stock, rigid Zeppelin type model mounted on back panel recto with layers that can be opened to reveal inner parts of the airship. Includes a list of parts on facing page. Illustration of M. Bleriot's French monoplane to front panel, the Wright aeroplane to title page and numerous addition photos of airships and dirigibles within. Topics include a history of early aviation, aeroplanes as a type, the airship in warfare, exploration by airship, the commercial aspect of the airship and the Zeppelin described. Scarce. 19 pp. 12 1/4" x 9 1/4". Tight, unmarked copy with minimal shelf wear and small upper right hand corner crease throughout. No tears to model.
