In each case White moves first and, no matter how Black replies, White forces checkmate on the net move. The trick, of course, is to find the right first move. The search for that move is what makes these puzzles so intriguing, and and so tantalizing. The solution to each puzzle appears at the back of the book, together with an explanations you might have overlooked. These explanations will add greatly to your enjoyment of the puzzles.
