London: Collins Crime Club, 1957. First edition, first printing. Published by Collins Crime Club in London, 1957. This is a very near fine copy. The dust wrapper is so slightly sunned at the spine with slight tip wear. It has not been price clipped and shows the original 12s. 6d. net price. There are slight spots of browning to the front and rear panels and a closed tear at the tail of the spine. The boards are free from notable wear and overall fine. The text blocks are so slightly toned, however the internals are pristine aside from one small band to the front flyleaf. This copy is free from previous owners ink and is, overall, in very near fine condition. Reviewers at the time of publication generally liked the novel, but would have liked more direct involvement of Miss Marple, and less consideration of her failing strength, using others to act for her. A later review by Barnard found the story short on clues, but favourably noted Lucy Eyelesbarrow as an independent woman character. The 1961 film Murder, She Said was based on this novel as were several television programmes.
