Ricketts who was blind when the book was published. Dobie says, "A natural book with much interesting information. It contains the best account of trailing cattle from Oregon to Wyoming that I have seen." Recollections of when he became a cowboy, roundups on the Platte, Indian raids, the winter of 1879-1880, booze and cattle won't mix, his trip to Yellowstone National Park, the open range, and much more. Former owner's gift inscription at top of free front fly leaf else a near fine bright, tight copy of a book that was originally published for friends and now has become very scarce to rare.
