Red cloth boards a little rubbed and soiled. Corners bumnped. Some sporadic spotting throughout. Binding sound. The fold-out plan of Tintern Abbey has a split at the fold. GWR map showing cathedrals, castles and abbeys in a pocket on rear board. Illustrations and maps throughout. No jacket. M. R. James (he of ghost story fame) provides the traveller with an explanation of the buildings listed and divides the abbeys by order (Benedictine, Cluniac, Cistercian, Carthusian, Augustine etc).
