About This Item

New York: G. P. Putnam's Sons, 1879. Edge and corner worn, scuffed and scratched, chipping at the head and tail of the spine, corners are bumped and rubbed, shelf worn, foxing, former owner's name is stamped on the inner front cover, rear hinge is cracked, overall a very clean used second edition! Very very rare and hard-to-find title! Tan cloth with black lettering and illustration on the front and rear boards and the spine. 250 very clean unmarked and uncreased historical pages! Frontis is a litho of Abraham Lincoln. Extremely scarce second edition! "I make no apology for adding another 'Life of Abraham Lincoln' to the many already written, as I believe it impossible to make such an example of successful perseverance allied to honesty, as the great president gave, too well known to the world. And as I know of no other man whose life shows so perfectly what may be effected by resolute self-culture, and adherence to god principles in spite of obstacles, I infer that such an example cannot be too extensively set before all young men who are ambitious to do well in the truest sense......" ---- from the Preface.. Second Edition. Tan Cloth. Good/No Jacket. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall. Hardcover.
