Hinges feel a little sprung, as if the text block is a little too large for the binding. Maps in very good condition. Small 1/2" chip to blank corner of world map. ; Two volumes bound in one. iv, [2], 489, [1] pges + 2 folding maps; [2], 339, [3] pages. Contemporary full mottled calf. Spine with 5 raised badns and gilt panels with filt floral decoration. Red lettering piece. Spine title: "DICTIONN / DELA / MARTINI". All page edges dyed red. Paged dimensions: 167 x 105mm. Text in French throughout. An abridged versions of the author's larger geographical dictionary. The entries are place names, e.g. "BOZOLO, Bozolum, p. ville d'Italie dans le Mantouan, avec un château & titre de prince. entre Mantoue & Crémone. long. 28. latit. 45. 9." This kind of work is also known as a gazetteer. .
