Paris: les Libraires Associes, 1762. Hardcover. Good. 3 vols.: 768, 177, [1]; 177-930; 931-1039, [1] p. 26 cm. Full leather. Gilt trim on spines. Marbled endpapers. All edges red. Corners worn, boards and spines scuffed. Spine gilt and lettering is damaged. Spine ends chipped. Bookplates for C. Garnier on front pastedowns. Pages generally neat and clean although some are darkened.
Title continues: "Contenant la signification, la définition & l'explication de tous les termes de Science & Arts, de Théologie, de Jurisprudence, de Belles-Lettres, d'Histoire, de Géographie, de Chronologie, &c." Berthelin (1720?-80) was a Parisian man of letters. Ordained as a priest, he first became a canon in Toué, then worked as a parliamentary lawyer before finally pursuing a career in education. He taught Latin at the École Militaire for 15 years from 1761 to 1776.
