Paris: Aux Editions Duchartre, 1938. First Edition. Softcover. Near Fine. 4to 11" - 13" tall. This is a sturdy, tightly bound copy of the First Edition, published by Duchâtre, Paris, 1933, complete in two volumes, being bound in a tall, heavy quarto format. The illustrated, simple card stock wraps are covered with original publisher's gate-fold wraps that are quite finely illustrated with logos and drawings including of the S.P.Q.R. logo. Each volume is housed in a Near Fine condition slipcase covered with a very unusual form of almost wallpaper, edges being covered in a kind of electrical tape. This is an unnumbered copy of a Special Limited Edition of 992, having been printed on Simili-Art paper. Between the two copies there are 412 reproductions in simil-engraving and 16 plates printed via electrotyping. The dedication page by the author is to "A Mon Cher Maitre Victor Laloux," his mentor as an architect, and then opposite is a fine black-and-white portrait painted of Laloux by Doucet and his facsimile note of congratulations. Tome I is 254 pp. in length and with Appendice de Tome Premiere [255-257 pp.], then an Table des Noms Cites [263 p.] and then Table des Hors-Texts en Electrotype (seven plates) [264] and then a Table des Matieres [265]. Tome II features a super-fine black-and-white painted portrait of Bonaparte at frontis, and includes Reglement du L'Academie de France a Rome, a full name index, and more. Several hundred fine black-and-white plates. All in, they comprise an extraordinary record of past members of the Academie de France and with hundreds of fine portraits of its members.Member, I.O.B.A., C.B.A., and adherent to the highest ethical standards.
