Lafayette, LA: Evangeline Publishing Company, 1966 Book. Illus. by B & W Photos and Illustrations, Foldout Family Tree. Very Good. Hardcover. First Edition. 6 1/4 x 9 1/4 Inches. Original red cloth on boards with gilt lettering on spine. The author was a former Louisiana Senator and studied Acadian history for more than forty years before publishing this book, his third on the subject. Foldout family tree chart of the author's family in the back. The author is an engaging writer, and his prose comes to life on the page - this is not a dull read. Contains list of 374 Acadian prisoners at Fort Beausejour in August of 1763, as well as hundreds of other names from various censuses. Excellent resource for folks with Acadian roots. Hard to find in this condition. 419 pp. including appendices..
