Summary: This volume contains one of the earliest accounts in English of Tasman's voyage in 1642, during which New Zealand and Tasmania were discovered. Its other interest lies in the description of the passage through the Strait of Magellan which was used by later navigators, a.o. Bulkeley and Cummins with the Wager survivors.
