Though not succeeding to bring home any news of the ill-fated La Pérouse expedition, the voyage was of considerable importance. Labillardire gives the first scientific description of the New Zealand flax. He describes the visits paid by the expedition to Tasmania, New Caledonia, Solomon Islands, New Guinea, Amboyna, Tonga, New Zealand, etc. Includes botanical and zoological descriptions .
