One of three-hundrd copies printed at the Bird & Bull Press at Newtown, Pa., composed in Caslon types, printed on mouldmade Arches and bound by Gray Parrot. Illustrated in color by Tottoroto. Unnumbered, calf spine, gilt titles on leather spine label over green/gilt floral patterned boards. Foxing on 4 endsheets front and back and occasional light scatter to inside pages. No names, no writing. Small spot on upper board

Original edition was published in 1699, the author was born in 1620 and died in 1706. An enviornmentalist, extremely knowledgeable about gardens and what grew in them. His most famous work was Sylva, Or A Discourse of Forest-Trees. Kit Currie's introduction gives an excellent context in which to understand the significance of this culinary adventure.
