Arthur Ackermann Publishing Limited, London, first edition, 1983. Cloth, large 8vo, 31 cm,. 256 pp, numerous ills (some in colour),. An extensively-illustrated account of the history of this publishing and art dealing house, which was pre-eminent among early 19th century publishers of books with coloured plates, and responsible for large numbers of now very expensive books with aquatints and later lithographs. In 1858 the firm abandoned book publishing to concentrate on dealing in prints and paintings, becoming in the 20th century the leading British dealers in sporting art. Includes a list of "every known Ackermann publication since the foundation of the firm". Very Good in slightly torn dustwrapper.
