Boston: Wright & Potter, State Printers, 1865. Book. Fair. Soft cover. Tan paper covers over string-bound text. Covers are darkened with a few small stains. Binding tight. Moisture staining to page block edges and throughout the interior in the gutters and/or margins. Gift label from John A. Andrew affixed to the title page, top edge: "With the Respect of" in print followed by what appears to be Andrew's facsimile signature. 140 pages, with Appendix, which includes data related to the Civil War, i.e., Regiment information, 20-page list of Officers who died (name, rank, date, remarks), and a list of General Officers and their fates. The last two mentioned lists are of potential interest to researchers and genealogists/family historians. John Albion Andrew was the 25th governor of Massachusetts, holding that office from 1861-1866. He served as governor through most of the Civil War, leading his state's contributions to the Union's cause. He was also a driving force behind the creation of some of the first African American units in the United States Army, including the famous 54th Massachusetts Infantry..
