About This Item
Pamphlet removed 8vo, 32 pp. Early signature on title page, partially disbound, last eight pages are completely separated from the rest of pamphlet. Some heavy foxing to a few pages, and there are some chips and tears at the extremities, not affecting text. These pamphlet reviews the causes of the War of 1812, but carries a strong anti-war message that is signed with the names of 34 congressmen (names are printed on pages 27&28). The pamphlet accuses the Madison Administration of trying to incite people to war on the issue of impressments. They maintain that the French are as guilty as the English on the subject of impressments. The last four pages of the pamphlet present statistics on exports to England and France.
