About This Item

Westminster: Machell Stace, 1811. New Edition. Hardcover. 21 x 17 cm. Octavo. 168 pages. Richard Burton is the pseudonym of Nathaniel Crouch, a printer and bookseller, that he used to write historical work. A historical survey written for a mass audience. Cloth bound. Boards are in rough shape with a 6 cm long piece missing from the spine, evidently where the title label would have been. Crack to the front cover spine. Dispite this, the signatures are tight. Frontispiece etching as well as portraits in text. Pages are in nice shape. Full title continues: Being an account of many remarkable persons and places; and likewise of battles, sieges, earthquakes, inundations, thunders, lightnings, fires, murders, and other considerable occurrences and accidents, for several hundred years past. With the natural and artificial rarities in every county, and many other observable passages; as they are recorded by credible historians of former and latter ages.
