Pictorial boards featuring a street scene spanning from front to back covers. Some bumping to corners where colouring has rubbed away. Owners name in pen on front free endpaper. Shelf wear to top and tail of spine. Interior pages are clean and readable. Good condition overall.
Hajji Baba is a Persian romance, influenced by Morier's time living in Persia as a diplomat. The book itself is the first in a series, which went on to influence the Western World's view of Persia, it's people and it's culture. Part novel, part travel book, Hajji Baba is known and loved around the world. Done in 80 chapters, the book features an inset chapter on glossed paper and tinted violet.
James Morier (1782-1849) was a British diplomat and author.
Cyrus LeRoy Baldridge (1889-1977) was an American artist and illustrator. Baldridge has been published in hundreds of books over his lifetime.
